Aromatherapy Being Used to Treat Medical Conditions

Aromatherapy has many benefits and has been used to treat medical conditions for hundreds of years.

In 1928 a French chemist by the name of René-Maurice Gattefossé burnt his arm in an accident in a lab where he was working. He discovered aromatherapy when he put his burning arm in some lavender oil and realized its effects.

Firstly, let’s take a look at what aromatherapy actual is. Aromatherapy is a holistic approach to treatment of problems, spiritual, physical or physiological, with the external use of essential oils.

This is an ancient natural health practice that mixes certain aromatic scents which then stimulate the nerves in the nose.

These essential oils are used by applying them to the body through massage, by adding them to a warm bath or breathing in the vapors. Those nerves then send messages to the part of the brain that controls certain functions.

The scented oils used in aromatherapy come from different parts of plants, flowers and even bark. The different scents that are used have different abilities to suit different ailments.

Aromatherapy should not be used to replace prescribed medical treatments but should instead be used in combination with them. Aromatherapy treatment can enhance the prescribed medications that you are using to treat your ailments.

"Best value for your money if you're unsure about the scents"
By Lazy Lady "Melissa" (Bahamas)

Great collection -- great variety, the oils are quite potent -- this is a great value for your money especially if you're not sure about how the oils smell--

I only hope they come out with another collection with different samples

Allergies are a condition that aromatherapy can be quite effective for.

Acne is another condition that responds well to aromatherapy.

Blue Tansy is a great scent that helps the nervous system and aids in the bronchia dilating process.

Blue Tansy is also helpful for pain management because of its effect on the nervous system. It helps to relax the body by releasing nervous tension and stress and giving a state of calm.

If you suffer from fatigue then eucalyptus and pine scents can be very helpful. These work by minimizing irritability and drowsiness as these can both lead to tiredness. These scents can help you stay alert and think clearly.

Other scents that are good for fatigue are lemongrass and sage. These are also very effective treatments for headaches. By calming the nervous system and relaxing the mind and body, these aromatherapy scents will reduce headache and help you to function more effectively.

Acne is another condition that responds well to aromatherapy.

Lemon, sandalwood and cedarwood are some great scents that help promote the hormonal balance within the body and also affect the oil production within the skin. These scents are also good stress relievers with stress being one of the main causes of acne.

If you are looking for alternative treatments for minor medical conditions then aromatherapy is an excellent choice. Aromatherapy can be used in both liquid oil form and candle form, both of which are very effective.

When you find a scent that works well for you then it will give you some great health benefits whenever you need them in the future. It can also be enjoyable to experiment with different scents while discovering the many benefits that they have to offer.

By S. G. "Mom of Teens" (IA)

This is the perfect way to diffuse essential oils and create a peaceful & serene environment anywhere in your home!

- the flameless candle has an incredible flickering effect that's so realistic my husband keeps trying to blow it out ;-)
- the essential oil pan is removable for easy cleaning and changing scents
- the oil reservoir is heated to diffuse the oil
- the river rocks are wonderful visual & tactile addition, and the supply provided is very abundant
- a timer automatically shuts it off after 6 hours - I turn it on as I go bed at night, and if it's still flickering when I awake, I know I haven't yet had enought sleep! :-)

LOVE it! This is one of those rare designs that makes me say, "They've thought of EVERYTHING!"

I ordered one to start with, and have since ordered two more - all for myself and different locations throughout my house.

The Rise in Popularity of Eucalyptus Aromatherapy

You will notice a big different in your aches and pains and even respiratory problems by using eucalyptus aromatherapy.

Although aromatherapy in general has been around since 1928, it is only in more recent years that oils like eucalyptus have become more popular. There are a number of reasons why eucalyptus aromatherapy is now being used more by aromatherapists.

This type of aromatherapy is recognized for its healing properties so it has that advantage over many of the other traditional forms of aromatherapy. In its undiluted oil state, eucalyptus is beneficial to help with poor circulation, rheumatoid arthritis, joint and muscular pain, sprains and sinus problems.

There are a number of decongestive medicines that also contain eucalyptus oils so it really is a great choice for an oil that can be vaporized so that you can inhale it to relieve respiratory problems, flu, hay fever, sneezing attacks or headaches. With such great benefits it is easy to see why eucalyptus aromatherapy is becoming very popular.

If you are using eucalyptus oil for the purpose of inhaling the vapors, the easiest way to do this is to add two drops of the oil to a bowl of boiling water. Then you cover both your head and the bowl with a towel, keep your eyes closed, and inhale the vapors.

It is important to keep your eyes closed while inhaling the vapor of eucalyptus oil. It isn’t toxic but it can irritate some people if it gets onto the skin or in the eyes. If the vapors get in your eyes they may experience a burning sensation.

When using eucalyptus aromatherapy at home you will need to be careful not to get any undiluted oil on your skin. If you want to use it on your skin through a massage then you should blend it with another oil such as jojoba oil.

Eucalyptus aromatherapy can give you relief of many ailments and it is definitely worth trying at home as long as you take those precautions against it touching your skin or eyes.

"Natural and antiviral...buy it!"
By kiwanissandy "Go Bucks!" (Heart of Ohio)
This review is from: Eucalyptus 100% Pure Essential Oil - 10 ml (Health and Beauty)

Talk about a natural way to make sure your get your house clean but this is it. Check out the Green Clean Aromatherapy Kit from Happy Soul or just purchase the individual bottles from Plantlife.

Either way you're getting a great deal. The Plantlife bottles are smaller than The Happy Soul bottles but they're both in the dark blue bottles which keeps all essential oils protected from the sunlight.

I make my own laundry detergent. I use 3c. Borox, 3c. Arm & Hammer Washing Soda (do not use generic here, it clumps), and then I add 20-25 drops of Eucalyptus and 20-25 drops of Lavender.

The eucalyptus is antiviral and the lavender is antibacterial, as well as smelling good. I use 1/4c. in each load of laundry.

My son no longer wakes up with headaches and I think it was because I was washing his bed sheets in chemical laden laundry detergent and he's sensitive to it.

This home-made recipe we all love the smell and actually feel better. I love it.

What can it hurt to try it a few times and check it out? The laundry detergent cost pennies to make. The eucalyptus provides antiviral properties and gets rid of dust mites too. It's an amazing essential oil.

If you have any questions of me, contact me through Amazon. I make all my home cleansers now, check out my listmania list.

Even if you don't want to make your own laundry detergent add a few drops of Eucalyptus to every load for its antiviral properties.

"My favorite blend for a clean scent"
By Jessica Hanselman (Michigan)
This review is from: Eucalyptus & Peppermint Aromatherapy Candle- 24 hr. burn time- made with 100% pure essential oils

I love this candle. It has a real purifying scent to it without being overpowering.

It has no toxins in it and uses a cotton wick. I gave several to a woman battling cancer to help her body relax and heal itself. I didn't want her using anything with petrochemicals or other nasties in it.

I like to burn this one on my bedroom dresser, because that room gets less air flow and can sometimes feel "blah" and stagnant. This really freshens things up.

It looks little in its little tin, but it burns a long time. The tin is handy to put little things in later when the candle is all used up.

(The tin also makes it handy for travel and when you have a baby like mine who is a menace to all glass containers everywhere.)
